Robot Trucks Now Hauling Appliances To Palm Springs

Watch out, truckers! Appliance maker Frigidaire and robotic truck technology maker Embark , along with commercial fleet management provider Ryder Systems revealed late Sunday evening that they have been using automated, robotic trucks to deliver loads of appliances from El Paso, Texas, across the I-10, to a handoff point in Palm Springs, as a pilot of a Level 2 automated trucking system.

ScoreStream Adds New Funding From Intel Capital

Del Mar-based ScoreStream , the crowdsourced local sports startup led by Derrick Oien, said last week that it has added new funding from Intel Capital. Details on the size of that funding round were not announced. According to ScoreStream, the round also included Avalon Ventures, Sinclair Broadcasting, R/GA and Verizon Ventures. ScoreStream said the funds go towards new product enhancement and extension of its platform.

AutoGravity Tops One Million Car Financing Shoppers

Irvine-based AutoGravity said today that more than one million usrs have now used its fintech platform, using its service to browse cars and receive personalized finance offers on vehicles. AutoGravity did not say how many of those users actually transacted a purchase. The company, which launched in 2016, lets users request financing quotes on vehicles using their smartphone; the company says it currently has a network of more than 2,000 dealers using its system.

Irvine-based analog semiconductor maker Skyworks Solutions reported a customer win this morning, with tracking device maker XY Findables. Skyworks said its front-end systems are being used by XY Findables to power their personal item finders. Shipment volumes and financial impact of the design win were not announced by Skyworks. Skyworks' chip is used to provide front-end Bluetooth Low Energy wireless connectivity in devices.

Razer Raises $530M In Hong Kong IPO

Gaming accessory maker Razer , which has offices in Irvine and was founded in San Diego, has raised $530M in its IPO in Hong Kong this morning. The company, which makes gaming notebooks, headsets, keyboards, mice, and other accessories, is led by CEO Tan Min-Liang, and was co-founded by San Diego resident Robert Krakoff. The IPO makes Min-Liang a billionaire, at least on paper; it's unclear how much of Razer is still owned by Krakoff.

Qualcomm Rejects Broadcom Proposal

San Diego-based Qualcomm announced this morning that its board has unanimously rejected the unsolicited acquisition proposal from Broadcom , saying the offer "dramatically undervalues" the company. Broadcom offered to pay $130 billion for Qualcomm on November 6th. Qualcomm said it conducted the review in consultation with financial and legal advisors, also saying that the offer had "significant regulatory uncertainty".
