USC Gets $200M From Oracle's Larry Ellison For Cancer Research

The University of Southern California has just received a huge, $200M donation from Oracle founder Larry Ellison , to create a new cancer treatment research center. According to the school, the donation will create the Lawrence J. Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine of USC , a multi-disciplinary center focused on the prevention and treatment of cancer.

SpaceX Dragon Returns From ISS, Heads To Long Beach

The SpaceX Dragon spacecraft, designed and launched by Hawthorne-based SpaceX , successfully returned to earth on Wednesday, splashing down 261 miles southwest of Long Beach with more than 3,700 pounds of cargo. NASA said that the craft splashed down at 2:51 p.m. EDT with NASA cargo and science and technology samples from the International Space Station.

Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. Vision Solutions was owned by Thoma Bravo. Vision Solutions is based in Irvine. Clearlake said it was advised by UBS Investment Bank, Evercore, and Forosin the deal, with Vision and Thoma Bravo advised by Jeffries LLC.
