What do Google Analytics and print newspapers have in common? I’ve been using Chartbeat for over a month now to track performance of my blog and I find myself looking at Google Analytics much less these days. In fact, I’m surprised by how antiquated Google Analytics feels. Basically, it rocks!

Silicon Valley may still be the capital of technology with a mix of new (Google, Facebook) and old (Apple, HP) sprinkling the landscape. Los Angeles has seen its own startup scene develop with Silicon Beach, which stretches between Santa Monica and Playa Vista.

They not only have gotten bigger but they have an amazing track record of funding the biggest names in the sector: Cisco, Apple, Google, Facebook. LA generally doesn’t have an appetite for this kind of investment at early stages. LA produced Applied Semantics that created AdSense and was bought by Google.

What they do, is accelerate that team or company to get them to the next level, and then go through and put in some investment money, help them build out the management team, and help with vendor relationships, help with overall strategy, and then help those companies riase their next round of capital. We actually are ideating internally.

really, that opportunity has only recently been realized fully with Apple in 2008, and later with Google. Speaking of Apple's iPhone and Google, it seems like you're one of the few mobile game firms for phones which has made the transition more or less smoothly into this new world of iOS and Android.
