Earlier this month, Los Angeles-based startup Worlize (www.worlize.com) announced it had received a seed round of funding, and launched a firm to focus on social gaming and chat. The firm's CEO is Brian McKelvey , who we caught up with recently to learn more about his background, the firm, and the market it hopes to serve.

We recently ran into Chris Tragos , one of the co-founders of Jetpack (www.jetpack.net), provider of an online ad platform. We thought we'd talk with Chris about what Jetpack is up to. The HTML5 platform that we use is also available as a self service tool to customers. But, you still have lots of ideas.

I started the series talking about what I consider the most important attribute: Tenacity. Every entrepreneur starts with an idea that they believe makes sense. Platforms eschew threading and then re-invent threading anew. Sure we still get excited and animated about a new JavaScript library, a new CSS trick, a new device, or a new data store. We work with clients to get them off the ground with a platform to build their business. We love technology, but. Think of the money!

The last time we spent much time chatting with Chris Lyman and Corey Brundage , they were at Los Angeles telephony software firm Fonality , busy getting their employees set up in a full blown, mixed-martial arts (MMA) "fight club". We've instead taken those comments and turned them into scores and a rating platform.
