You’ve probably already made your resolutions for 2023, but if not, I suggest a renewed commitment to finding happiness and satisfaction in your chosen business lifestyle. The right reason to start a business is not the money, challenge, or the prestige, but the chance to follow your dream. Keep track of your wins.
Over my many years of mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs and business professionals, I often hear a desire to start a new business, with a big hesitation while waiting for that perfect idea and perfect alignment of the stars. Start today building a bigger network. Success requires a great amount of hard work.
With business teams now getting back together in the workplace after primarily working remotely during the pandemic , it’s an ideal time to implement change and make sure your team is feeling a renewed sense of satisfaction, high engagement, and maximum productivity. Put away permanently your “suck it up” voice. We’ve all been there.
Relativity Space has a new customer for its 3D-printed rockets: Established satellite maker and operator Iridium, which has picked the company for launches in 2023. To accomplish those, and other launches like them, the company is also setting up a new launch site at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
These haven’t changed much over the years, but still seem to be often overlooked by business professionals and leaders in their haste to keep up with peers, competitors, and customers in today’s volatile environment. The reality is that starting a business, as well is working an existing business, has always required perseverance.
Here is a summary of my recommendations for picking the right battles in a business environment, and how to fight challenges most effectively for satisfaction and growth: Set personal objectives and make your own decisions. Follow your own interests and business insights to increase satisfaction and long-term success.
I always thought that I must be lucky to have found so much excitement and satisfaction from my work, so I never had any really good answers to those of you who second category who wanted to move to the first. Don’t make commitments that have no potential for positive return on your effort, or no potential for learning or satisfaction.
For your own happiness and satisfaction, I recommend you start instead working from that higher purpose and passion. Even experienced business owners can’t keep all the requirements for starting or growing a business in their head, so organizing it on paper is critical to making it consistent and complete.
I’ve found that you can best start by asking for another perspective, whether of yourself or a team member. Start by getting people comfortable with what they don’t know, showing them you are open to new ideas, and don’t demand perfection in all deliverables. You need both to create better outcomes and increase job satisfaction.
Building belief is a never-ending effort, both in jump-starting a change journey, and in sustaining a long-term commitment. I believe that advocating for others needs to start with active listening and acceptance of ideas from team members around you. Marty Zwilling First published on Inc.com on 3/28/2023
In my experience as a startup investor, I have become convinced that the biggest reason for business failure is giving up too early. Make your mantra one of job satisfaction and delivering customer value, rather than avoiding failure today. Marty Zwilling First published on Inc.com on 08/16/2023
Whether you are a business professional in a big company, or an entrepreneur with a startup, innovation is a key strategy. New businesses driven only by a passion for big profit margins, rather than customer value and a higher cause, are perennially high risk with low satisfaction for you and the team.
With pervasive access to social media, customers no longer differentiate poor product repair and replacement from a poor shopping experience or customer usage satisfaction. Start by hiring the right people, and providing the necessary training, coaching, and mentoring. Marty Zwilling First published on Inc.com on 1/3/2023.
Most business professionals I know have been conditioned to think of inflation as highly negative, driving up their costs, and reducing customer buying. After all, running a business is all about maximizing your satisfaction, as well as your financial returns. Marty Zwilling First published on Inc.com on 1/25/2023
Here is my list of eight key strategies and tactics, gleaned from my own observations and feedback, which I believe will define you as a trusted leader, and will result in loyal teams to amplify your business initiatives into long-term success and satisfaction: Share your values and expectations to everyone.
Seek customer feedback on ways to improve value and satisfaction. These start with your brand image, search visibility and process, and extend to the actual sales transaction. Now is the time to learn and adopt these new ways of thinking, whether your business today is a startup or a corporate conglomerate.
You will see greater productivity, and employees will have a better experience and more satisfaction. Marty Zwilling First published on Inc.com on 06/11/2023 Many business leaders are now proclaiming their company support to a higher purpose to facilitate this initiative.
Of course, starting and running your own business comes with financial and personal risks, so I always recommend that you do your homework first, and follow some tried and proven strategies to improve your odds of success. These days, you can’t start and run a business alone. Marty Zwilling First published on Inc.com on 08/08/2023
How will work productivity and quality be impacted, and what effect will it have on personal careers, job satisfaction, and work-life balance? In my experience, a great office culture will enhance every team member productivity, as well as personal satisfaction. Marty Zwilling First published on Inc.com on 07/06/2023
I’m always on the lookout for more practical insights and guidance to get started. Start by creating and sharing the big picture. Of course, it’s always important to be positive and optimistic about the future and look forward to sharing your journey to business success and personal satisfaction. Face the worst and don’t panic.
They ask me for a perspective on the pros and cons of that dream, the potential for increased satisfaction , and the probability of their long-term growth and success. There are at least three relevant groups of users to start: innovators, early adopters, and early majority. Marty Zwilling First published on Inc.com on 1/23/2023
Start with a real problem, rather than a technology or solution looking for a problem. Your goal is to end up with a solution that is in total more useful and novel. There is no guarantee, of course, that any combination or process will work, but thinking bigger about any new idea will certainly improve your odds and satisfaction.
