Report: Gender Gap In Tech Worst For 18-25 Year Olds

Santa Monica-based salary comparison startup Comparably , which is led by startup veteran Jasaon Nazar, has run a survey of over 10,000 technology employers, to help break down some information about the pay gap between men and women. The startup's survey found that the pay gap is worst for women in the 18 to 25 year old age bracket.

Zadara Rolls Out New Enterprise Cloud Storage Offering

Irvine-based Zadara Storage , which develops enterprise storage-as-a-service hardware, software, and services, said this week that it has launched a new product called the Zadara Cube. According to the company, the new product is based on its existing VPSA Storage Array technology, and connects customers into Amazon Web Services. Zadara said all charges for Zadara Cube show up on a customer's AWS bills, alongside other AWS services.

Newegg, Indiegogo Team On Crowdfunding Effort

Los Angeles-based online electronics retailer Newegg and project crowdfunding site Indiegogo said this morning that the two are in a collaboration, where they will help successfully funded, crowdfunding campaigns to sell and deliver their products. The two said that Newegg will provide access to the retail market for Indiegogo campaigners, and will provide distribution and fulfillment services to those projects.

TigerText In Healthcare Smartphone Integration Deal

Santa Monica-based TigerText , which develops secure messaging software which is used in the healthcare industry, said this morning that it is working with Honeywell on a deal which will integrate the company's apps with the Honeywell Dolphin CT50h smartphone. Honeywell's CT50h is specifically designed for healthcare applications, and integrates standard smartphone functions with a barcode scanner for scanning in patient information and data.

Semtech Sells Off Unit To Rambus

Camarillo-based analog and mixed signal semiconductor developer Semtech Corporation said on Monday that it has agreed to divest its Snowbush intellectual property (IP) business--which develops designs for high speed serial networking interfaces--to Rambus. Semtech said Rambus will pay $32.5M in cash, along with a future royalty through 2022 based on sales. Semtech said the sale was part of an effort to exist business which it says are no longer aligned with the company's long term strategy.

Digital Networks Group Acquired By Telerent Leasing

Aliso Viejo-based Digital Networks Group , a provider of AV and IT integration for the healthcare, education, and government sector, has been acquired by Raliegh, North Carolina-based Telerent Leasing Corporation. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The companies said that Telerent is a provdier of hospital television, display, and signage systems integration services, with customers that represent more than 40 percent of U.S. hospitals.

American Airlines Switches To ViaSat

American Airlines has selected Carlsbad-based satellite Internet provider ViaSat for a major deployment on its fleet of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, in what is a major win for Viasat, the two said late Friday. Financial details of the win were not disclosed, however, the two said that American's new fleet of Boeing 737 MAX will go into service with ViaSat's in-flight internet systems, starting in September of 2017.

Impinj, With Offices In OC, Files For IPO

Impinj , a developer of RFID and other wireless chips which has rseearch offices in Rancho Cordova and Newport Beach, has filed for an IPO, saying in a filing with the SEC that it is looking to raise up to $60M. The company has applied to list on the NASDAQ Global Market as PI. The IPO is being underwritten by RBC Capital Markets, Pacific Crest Securities, Piper Jaffray,Needham & Company, and Cannacord Genuity.

Platinum Equity Acquires Electro Rent For $323.4M

Beverlly Hills-based private equity investor Platinum Equity , and Van Nuys-based Electro Rent said Tuesday that the two are in a definitive agreement, where Platinum Equity will pay approximately $323.4M for Electro Rent. Platinum Equity said ti will pay $13.12 per share in cash for Electro Rent, which it says is a premium of 24.4 percent over the company's closing price on May 27th. Western Digital Bumps Guidance

Irvine-based Western Digital has bumped its guidance for its fourth, fiscal quarter, saying it now expects fourth quarter revenues of between $3.35 billion to $3.45 billion, up from an earlier forecast of $2.6 billion to $2.7 billion. The upped guidance comes due to the company's acquisition of San Disk. Western Digital closed its $19 billion acquisition of SanDisk earlier this month. NantHealth Launches Molecular Testing, Decision Support Product

Culver City-based NantHealth has launched a new product, which provides molecular testing and decision support solutions for cancer patients. According to NantHealth, its new Genomic Proteomic Spectrometry Cancer or GPS Cancer product, measures the proteins in a patient's tumor tissue, and uses whole genomic and transcriptomic sequencing to help personalize chemotherapy treatment.

Caltech Sues Apple, Broadcom, Avago Over Wi-Fi Patents

Pasadena-based Caltech has sued both Apple Computer and Broadcom over their use of technology used in Wi-Fi networking. According to the lawsuit, The California Institute of Technology v. Broadcom Limited et al , which was filed in the California Central District Court, the lawsuit covers technology used in Apple's iPhone line, starting with the iPhone 5, along with the iPad, MacBook Air, Apple Watch. The patents owned by Caltech are U.S. Patent's 7,116,710, 7,421,032, 7,916,781 and 8,284,833.

Impact Radius Gets $30M For Affiliate Marketing Software

The funding came from Silversmith Capital partners. Music Reports Inks Major Deal With Pandora

Woodland Hills-based Music Reports , which provides music rights administration services to the music industry, has inked a big deal with streaming music service Pandora. According to Pandora, it has tapped Music Reports to manage the mechanical licensing and royalty administration for its upcoming interactive streaming service. Financial details of the deal were not announced by the company. Pandora said the partnership is part of an effort to "substantially broaden" its subscription business.

Faraday Future Plans Driverless Car Testing In Michigan, Says Report
