One of the dysfunctions I often see in my coaching and mentoring work with small businesses is team member burnout. It is no secret that the recent pandemic has exacerbated this problem as companies lost more and more of their employees due to illness, economic contraction, and voluntary resignations.

For example, it may seem quicker and more effective to hand your service desk employees the store policy manual, and tell them to follow the rules, rather than spend time coaching them on how to really listen to customer feedback, and use their strengths to build customer loyalty.
