I think we had slightly different definitions of this saying but since he coined the term I have to credit him. It is best not to buy your competitors – they’ll always want an unreasonable price and think of the sale as failure. We both meant mostly the same thing. Poor position definition. If the expectations or the salary range are unreasonable, you won’t get good results or a happy employee. My recommendation is to hire the core executive team first, and charge them will building their own team. The responsibilities of every position need to be clearly defined, realistic, and appealing.
