El Segundo-based GoGuardian , which develops software for the education market, has expanded into new offices in El Segundo, at the former Raytheon site. GoGuardian said there's a burgeoning startup scene in El Segundo, with such companies as Finless Foods, Wonderstorm, and TechStyle Fashion Group.

El Segundo-based Phase Four, which is developing thrusters for satellite propulsion, says it has launched one of its Maxwell engines into space. According to the startup, the engine was launched onboard a Capella Space SAR satellite which went into space on June 30th on a SpaceX launch.

El Segundo-based Phase Four, a space startup which is creating satellite thrusters which use radio-frequencies for propulsion, said it has raised $26M in a Series B funding round. Phase Four says it is developing Maxwell plasma propulsion engines, which are designed to steer satellites in space.
