I thing I’ve learned over the years is that technology purists hate advertising even when it is that revenue stream that truthfully drives much of our industry. Bill had previously created a packaged software company called Knowledge Adventure the produced children’s educational software. They are very hands on.

At at time where nearly all advertising was purchased on a CPM (cost per thousand) basis and not very measurable this was a huge innovation that should be credited to Bill Gross, the founder of IdeaLab. We can technology enable offline advertising. But of course Google eventually became the massive winner in this category.
