I’ve been learning a ton about socialmedia lately, but I have to say, I never feel like I’m actually getting anywhere with it all. Anyhow, sorry to rant, but I’m frustrated with socialmedia and the concept in general. Email seemed to be working just fine before all this other crap came along.
A typical day starts with email, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Yammer checks/updates. It’s something I speak about quite a bit (see SocialMedia to Build Reputation and Reach Prospects and SocialMedia for Service Professionals ). I'd rather invest time investing in socialmedia to drive traffic to our site.
Generalized email blasts and socialmedia ads may be great for finding interest in your services, but these are not enough to close and maintain new clients. The bad news is that I still find a lot of you who don’t use these tools effectively, or haven’t learned the rules for nurturing remote relationships.
Use visibility and socialmedia to pull clients in. In addition to relationships, today’s clients want to see you and your expertise on videos online, industry conferences, and socialmedia to feel the trust for differentiation. Don’t forget seminars and events. Raise the conversion rate with effective follow-up.
Once you’ve answered these questions go ahead and contact them in a short email. If these companies have email lists even better! CALL THEM, not a tweet, or facebook wall post, or email and especially not a text. Now study the event organizer. What are their interests? What have they written about? How can you relate to them?
This means more people sign up for your email list when you have the pop up box than when you don’t. An email list is exactly how it sounds, a collection of people’s emails who have visited your site. That’s the sensation people have when they continuously see the email capture image. Have an email capture.
