I''ve written before about finding WebDevelopment Firms in Los Angeles. I just got an email asking about exactly this: I''m with a new company that needs some software built, but doesn''t need (or have the resources for) a large staff of software developers. Some of what I have below applies. Who worked on those projects?
Huntington Beach-based AnyMeeting , the provider of web conferencing tools, Influxis , a live streaming and real time application hosting provider, as well as TokBox , which develops an online video platform, are all backing the Anymeeting Web RTC Hackathon , being held at Chapman University next Saturday, January 26th.
San Diego-based StockTwits , the online, finance-focused messaging service, said today that it has partnered with Q4 Web Systems , a developer of corporate websites and social media products for public companies. Q4's software powers Investors Relations sites for a wide variety of public companies.
The problem is you don't yet have product/market fit, and until you do, you don't really know what to build. When product vision is truly clear, then it makes sense to execute it, and hiring follows. These companies are very early-stage and definitely have not shown product/market fit. They need to determine product/market fit.
Los Angeles-based people search engine MyLife.com has snagged technologist Ian Siegel as the firm's new Chief Product Officer, the firm said today. Siegel was most recently at Pictage, and also served as VP of WebDevelopment for Rent.com, in addition to serving earlier as VP of WebDevelopment at Stamps.com.
Steve Gilison worked as a market researcher and product manager at a startup where my company, TechEmpower , did the software / webdevelopment. I have about 11 years in the technology sector including roles doing market research, sales and productdevelopment. Most people think they can do product design.
However, this is acceptable as we want each implementation to be production-grade and typical for the framework, not tuned to include only the response headers we require. If you are a webdeveloper using C++, you win this particular bragging-rights game. Thorough normalization of behavior is not a goal. in both environments.).
I’ve had a long-standing rule of thumb in product design, which I call “design for the novice, configure for the pro.&# I started saying this back in 2001/02, long before the era of Web 2.0, Fast forward a decade and now I had a startup filled with smart webdevelopers.
Ensure that you investigate the designers' past work, samples of their work product, and their process. Quality of Work: The end product should not only look good but function as expected. While the appearance matters, remember you are hiring the development firm primarily for its development skills, not its graphic design skills.
But on the other hand if you have a product with a very high gross margin (software, virtual goods, etc.) I believe in integrated products. Thus I endorse Web Second. I think many recent companies make the mistake of not investing enough in webproducts, if they invest anything at all. then mobile is awesome.
According to Ziptask, the firm''s online, cloud-based platform offers up project managers to liason with freelancers, helping to manage hiring of those freelancers, interviews, overseeing the work of those freelancers, as well as delivery of product. Rather, these were the words given in response to the opening question to a panel of product managers to “describe their occupation” in 3 words or less, + an additional word on what their biggest challenge was. Jay Stakelon , VP Product Design, Fullscreen. Jen Robinson , Head of Product Manager, Bigframe.
Vice President, Business Development , Los Angeles, Boingo Wireless. Senior WebDeveloper , Malibu Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp. Director of Ad Sales and Business Development , Huntington Beach, Freebinar.com. Sr Product Manager , West LA, Shopzilla.

I would agree that Apples product design would suggest that it aims at Time Poor buyers. However, the ubiquity of the iPod including use by many folks who certainly would fall in the Time Rich category (lots of time to play with music) suggests that their product and marketing appeals to both segments.

We already had a presence there, and are moving into a standalone building in Calabasas focused on webdevelopment. Eric Robison: What's led to the growth is an amazing product. I think part of the answer is the product's strength, and the investment we've made in building our online library of courses.

But a newly minted developer given access to Hacker News can develop ADD in a week's time, waste countless hours reading the opinions of professional and amateur technology opinion-makers, and nervously fidget about selecting the hippest framework and libraries to (briefly) avoid the scorn of hacker pop culture.
