One of the portfolio firms of San Diego venture capital firm Enterprise Partners is heading towards an IPO, according to a S-1 filing Friday. The firm's other venture backers are Essex Woodlands Health Ventures, OrbiMed Advisors, OVP Venture Partners, Prospect Venture Partners and Highland Capital Management. Enterprise has been an investor in Complete Genomics since 2006, when it was a Series A investor in the firm.

San Diego-based venture capital firm Enterprise Partners is one of the firms in a $39M, Series E funding round for Mountain View-based Complete Genomics , Complete Genomics said today. The round was led by Sands Capital, and also included Essex Woodlands, OVP Venture Partners, Prospect Venture Partners, OrbiMed Advisors, Highland Capital and Enterprise Partners.

Enterprise Partners owns about 14.8 The IPO marks the second major acquisition in Enterprise Partners' portfolio this year; the firm also was an investor in Targegen, which was acquired by Sanofi-aventis in June.
