Many entrepreneurs who start technology companies are product people, technologists or savvy business people who worked previously for a larger company. Most start-up entrepreneurs have little or no sales experience. This is the easiest one for most entrepreneurs. But most good entrepreneurs do this naturally.

The cost of entry is so low – you can create a web site for almost nothing - and you are on your way to riches with ecommerce, your latest invention, or personal services. Mashable claims there are 150,000 new web sites created per day. Having a web site is necessary, but not sufficient. Content is king of the road. like Google.

I think some of this stems from the early days of Twitter when it was presumed that it was a technology to tell people what you ate for lunch. First, A Primer: Portals, RSS, Feed Readers & Delicious - When the web started we needed directories to find information and thus Yahoo! I guess it wasn’t in their DNA.

With today’s technology, make sure they get a monthly newsletter, a reminder care for a tune-up, or a holiday greeting card personalized just for them. Today you have the tools, like blogging, videos, and new web technologies, to explain and make your customers appreciate what you do, and how you do it better than anyone else.
