What''s the mission behind the new startup incubator? How did the incubator come about?

Adding one more startup incubator/accelerator to the long list in Los Angeles, Bixel Exchange launched Thursday, to offer up mentoring and classes to local startups. According to the Bixel Exchange, the new technology center will provide mentors and advisors, informatoin and educaiton, and connections to the local community.

A couple of weeks ago, twelve companies moved into the new downtown San Diego, EvoNexus incubator--which is run by CommNexus. Kevin Hell: What makes EvoNexus unique, is that it is--as far as we know--the only completely free, no-strings-attached incubator in the nation. Once they pass that, they get into the incubator.

It might look a little like Demo Day for Warner Media Camp , the startup incubator program being run out of Los Angeles by Turner/Warner Bros. The program graduated six companies out of its internal incubator program Monday, showing them off at a Demo Day. at the intersection of technology and media.

The accelerator said that the demo day is a culmination of its latest three month program, which included ten new companies in mentoring, collaboration, funding, and access to its network of investors and entrepreneurs. MuckerLab's model is based on the TechStars incubation model, and the group is an affiliate of that startup accelerator.

Those programs--epitomized by YCombinator in the Bay Area, and TechStars in Boulder, Colorado--attract newly minted entrepreneurs with a mixture of cash and mentoring, and a program which rapidly takes ideas and turns them into viable, executing businesses. Those mentors are not just Bruce and I, although we are full time on this.

It was standing room only at StartEngine 's Demo Day Wednesday afternoon, held at Santa Monica's Cross Campus , as the startup accelerator launched eight of its latest startups into the world, after a 90 day process of mentoring, honing their business model, and heads down development.
