I always try hard to make this blog a place where you can learn lessons rather than an advertisement for portfolio companies. I wanted a smart NorCal investor who had done more mobile investments than I had and Jon Callaghan had very relevant relationships & experience. I am on record as saying that my opinion is that Web 2.0
I originally came from the entreprise software world (for 10 years) and before that I was in mobile & telecoms (8 years) so the last three years of immersing myself in consumer Internet, digital media & advertisings has been very eye opening. I know the more experienced consumer web people will be laughing about now.
It turns out that it works fine how I did it with the web version of Twitter but not with mobile. 1/ Twitter started off positioned as a micro-blogging platform but in the end became more of an RSS reader. The opportunity set is much bigger than ever (50x more users, 10x time online, mobile, social, credit-card enabled, global) … when things work they work faster and at an unprecedented scale.
