Fuel50 Finds $15.5M For Talent Marketplace

Laguna Niguel-based Fuel50, which operates an artificial intelligence (AI) powered marketplace for talent, has raised $15.5M in a Series B funding, the company said Thursday. Fuel50 says it has now raised a total of $28.2M. The funding was led by PeakSpace Capital and Shearwater Capital. The company said the new funds will go towards increasing its presence across the S, EMEA, and Australasia. Anne Fulton is Co-Founder and CEO of Fuel50.

Totum Labs Set Commercial Officer

San Diego-based Totum labs, which is developing its own constellation of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) nanosatellites for use in the Internet-of-Things (IoT) market, says it has named David Gell as its Chief Commercial Officer. The company said Gell has previously served at Hewlett-Packard, Solectek, Nestwave, VIE Technologies and Cygnus Broadband, where he was co-founder. Totum Labs said it raised its $13M, Series A funding in November of 2020.

Iyuno-SDI Group Gets $160M

Iyuno-SDI Group, a provider of localization services to the media industry with an operation in Burbank, said this week that it has raised $160M in a funding round. The funding came from SoftBank Vision Fund 2. Iyuno-SDI Group says it is now using artificial intelligence and machine translation along with traditional translation for its efforts. The company has been around since 1965. The company's other backers include Shamrock Capital Advisors and SoftBank Ventures Asia Corp.

Community Connects With $40M For Text Messaging

Los Angeles-based Community, a startup which provides a way for celebrities to send text messages--at scale--to their fans, has raised $40M more in a funding round, the company annoucned this morning. The company said the new funding came from Salesforce Ventures. Community says it has now raised nearly $90M in total, from investors which also include Twilio, Sound Ventures, Live Nation, Sony Innovation Fund, and others.

EVgo Picks Up Charger Installation Pace

Los Angeles-based EVgo, which operates a public network of electric vehicle (EV) fast charging stations, says it is increasing the pace of its installations. According to the company, it just installed 10 new EV fast charging stations in the last 10 days, across new locations in California, Florida, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington and the District of Columbia. The company said those 10 stations represent 38 fast charging stalls.

Agilon Health Sets IPO Pricing Range

Long Beach-based Agilon Health, which operates a network of physicians focused on Medicare patients, has set its IPO pricing range, saying it hopes to sell 46,600,000 shares of its common stock at between $20.00 and $23.00 per share. The company's IPO could raise as much as $1.232 billion for the company. The company has applied to list on the NYSE under the symbol AGL. The IPO is being underwritten by J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs & Co.

The funding was led by IDT Corporation and also included Goldie Group and Klein Enterprises. As part of the funding, Shmuel Jonas, CEO of IDT Corporation, and Daniel Klein, CEO of Klein Enterprises both join the company's board.

J2 Global Buys One Company, Sells Two

Los Angeles-based J2 Global said this morning that it has acquired one company, and divested two. According to the company, it acquired HowLongtoBeat, and divested City Numbers and Callstream. HowLongtoBeat is an online website that lets videogame players track the playtimes of their games. City Numbers and Callstream are both part of J2 Global's UK cloud services business. Financial details of the acquisition and divestitures were not announced.

Nucleix Nabs $55M For Lung Cancer Detection

Romeo Power Reports Win With PACCAR

Los Angeles-based battery developer Romeo Power reports that it has scored a win with PACCAR, a manufacturer of high-quality light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks under the Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF nameplates. According to Romeo Power, it has signed a deal to battery packs, modules and battery management systems (BMS) for PACCAR's battery electric vehicles (BEVs). The company said its battery sytems will be used for Peterbilt 579 and 520 Battery-Electric Vehicles.

ABL today said that Lockheed Martin has signed a launch contract with the company, for 58 launches over the next 10 years.

Irvine-based mobile device manufacturer Incipio says it has partnered with nonprofit Eden Reforestation Projects, where Eden will plant a new tree for every one of Incipio's Organicore phone cases that are purchased. According to Incipio, Eden will plant one tree in the regions most impacted by deforestation throughout the year, with five trees planted for every purchase of those Incipio phones through April. Financial details of the effort were not announced.
