It seems like there are almost nearly as many startup incubators and accelerators launching in the Los Angeles area as startups. Be Great Partners said Monday that it has launched a new technology incubator and accelerator, in the Variety Building at 5900 Wilshire Blvd. The incubator said it was founded by Lin Miao. The newest?

To give visibility to these companies to: Sources of funding (angels / VCs), business development partners, mentors who have themselves built successful companies, the press and potential employees to hire. But wait, does that make Launchpad LA an incubator now? There are at least 6 incubators now being set up in LA.

Chris Devore & Andy Sack have created Founder’s Coop with the goal of funding, incubating & launching more early-stage ventures in Seattle. They can then direct staff, allocate budgets, talk to the press, connect you with politicians and attend events. There is no question NY startups get disproportionate press.

I recently read this anecdote in the press (withholding company name because I actually really love the concept). And it seems to be creeping back into startup culture of late in a worrying way. Great product ideas (and even potentially great companies) are being thrust at us in an attempt to go more quickly.

Venice-based Amplify LA (www.amplify.la) is celebrating its fifth anniversary as a startup accelerator here in the Los Angeles area � one of the few in the area to have survived in more or less original form after the launch of a number of startup incubators and accelerators five years ago.
