Sizmek's Ad Server, Optimization Products Acquired By Amazon

The ad serving and "creative optimization" businesses of Sizmek , the now-bankrupt developer of advertising technology which had a significant portion of its team in Los Angeles, has been acquired by Amazon , Amazon said on Friday. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. Amazon said it has agreed to acquire both the Sizmek Ad Server and Sizmek Dynamic Creative Optimization (DCO) products. Sizmek had been looking for a buyer for the two products.

Los Angeles-based venture investor Moonshots Capital is the lead investor in a new startup, Backtracks , a developer of podcast analytics software. According to Backtracks, it has raised $2.1M in a seed funding round, which was led by Moonshots Capital, and also included Capital Factory, Sputnik ATX, Next Coast Ventures, Bull Creek Capital, and BNSG Capital. As a part of the funding round, Kelly Perdew, Managing General Partner of Moonshots Capital, will join the board at Backtracks.

Mission Finds $15M For AWS Managed Services, Consulting

Los Angeles-based Mission , a startup providing managed services and consulting for Amazon Web Services, has raised $15M in a funding round, from private equity investor Great Hill Partners. According to Mission, it will use the new funding to expand its team, technology, system, and go-to-market. Mission said it provides services providing AWS solutions in three major areas--Southern California, Northern California, and the Northeast.
